Two Years in Business: Lessons, Growth, and Gratitude When I first started my business two years ago, I’ll admit, it felt like a leap into the unknown. I’ve always considered myself a calculated risk-taker. You know the type—follow the path that makes the most sense:...

This isn’t another productivity hack post. A lot This isn’t another productivity hack post.

A lot of boundary conversations start with tactics.
Email hours. Response times. Calendar rules.

But most women in business don’t struggle with boundaries because they don’t know what to do.

They struggle because boundaries collide with identity.

Being reliable.
Being helpful.
Being the one who figures it out.

So instead of asking, Is this too much?
We ask, How can I make this work?

That’s why boundaries often break down first around availability.
Late-night emails. Weekend messages. The constant mental pull to stay “on.”

Not because you don’t care about your life.
But because you care deeply about your work.

In this week’s podcast episode and blog post, I talk about why boundaries feel so personal for so many women in business, and why protecting your time, energy, and pricing isn’t a lack of commitment.

It’s leadership.

If you’re building a business you want to sustain, not just survive, this conversation matters.

A lot of women in business assume boundary struggl A lot of women in business assume boundary struggles mean they need more discipline.

Better systems.
Stricter rules.
More willpower.

But most of the women I talk to are already capable, thoughtful, and deeply invested in their work.

They don’t struggle because they don’t know what to do.
They struggle because being reliable, helpful, and available has been part of who they’ve always been.

So when boundaries start to feel uncomfortable, it’s not because something is wrong.
It’s because something familiar is being challenged.

And that’s worth paying attention to.

Valentine’s Day gets a lot of attention for romant Valentine’s Day gets a lot of attention for romantic relationships.

But I think it’s also a good moment to pause and ask a quieter question.

Does the business you’re building support your life
or constantly pull you away from it?

Does it leave room for rest, presence, and creativity
or does it rely on you being “on” all the time?

This isn’t about perfection.
And it’s not about balance in the neat, Instagram sense.

It’s about building something that respects your energy, your time, and the season you’re in.

Because you’re allowed to want success and sustainability.
You’re allowed to build a business that works with your life, not against it.

Today, I’m feeling grateful.

Grateful for a season that feels more aligned.
For work that matters to me, and people I genuinely love working with.
For a business that’s grown in a way that supports my life, not competing with it.

I don’t take that for granted.

It’s come from a lot of learning, some hard conversations, and choosing to build something intentionally instead of urgently.

Today just feels like a good day to appreciate the season you’re in, wherever that might be, and to offer a little permission to want success that still leaves room for peace.

Happy Valentine’s Day 🤍

There’s a point in business where “being busy” sta There’s a point in business where “being busy” starts to feel different.

Not chaotic.
Not out of control.
Just… heavy.

You’re capable.
You know how to make things work.
And because of that, it can be hard to tell when you’re actually at capacity versus just pushing through out of habit.

This is the stage where a lot of women quietly overextend themselves.
Not because they don’t know better, but because they don’t want to disappoint, fall behind, or lose momentum.

In this week’s In the EllaMents podcast episode, I talk about how to recognize when you’re truly too busy to take on more work and why that awareness matters more than productivity tips or better time management.

If you’ve been wondering whether your plate is full… or just uncomfortable to look at, this episode is for you.
